Weggis and Vitznau

Located on the shores of Lake Lucerne, Weggis & Vitznau are two picturesque lakeside villages steeped in history and romance.

Weggis is a picturesque, quiet resort, situated on the south side of Mount Rigi on the shores of Lake Lucerne. For a superb panoramic view from the summit of Mount Rigi take the boat to Vitznau and then the old cog railway up to Rigi Kulm. You can either return the same way, or descend by cable car back to Weggis. On a clear day you can see as far as the Black Forest.

Vitznau is a charming lakeside village situated below Mount Rigi. It has the oldest cog railway in Europe, which descends to Rigi Kulm. Vitznau offers a relaxed holiday atmosphere with a lakeside promenade, colourful cafes and stublis. Excursion possibilities are numerous, take a steamer and visit the beauty spots along Lake Lucernes shores such as Burgenstock, Gersau and Brunnen. The funicular up to Burgenstock offers stunning views of the lake.
