Lake Thun is a popular area for walking with well signposted paths from easy lakeside walks to more challenging treks. Walking leaflets are available free of charge from the tourist information centre.

Fishing
Only a short walk from the middle station at the Stockhorn Gondola, you'll find the idyllic mountain lakes Hinterstockensee and Oberstockensee. A one day permit is available from CHF17 and a return gondola ticket from CHF29.

Swimming
The Frei Seebad Speiz is open May to September and features an outdoor swimming pool plus paddling pool, slide, sunbathing area and direct access to the lake.

Mini-golf
There is an 18 hole mingolf course next to the outdoor pool area in Speiz.

Lake Thun, in between the old town of Thun and Interlaken is a picturesque location and a great base to visit neighbouring villages, which can be reached by lake steamers, a bus service also operates to take visitors from the lake resorts to Thun and Interlaken.

Spiez on Lake Thun is ideally placed for exploring the Bernese Oberland, with promenades and parks offering relaxing strolls whilst the mountains offer marvellous walking country with the dramatic Mount Niesen towering overhead. There is a fine lakeside lido as well as tennis courts, mini golf and a children's playground.

There are plenty of opportunities to take walks to the vineyards and the castle at Oberhofen. The stunning villages of Beatenberg and Faulensee are a must to visit! If you fancy doing a bit of shopping on holiday then Thun has a number of retail outlets on offer.
